Day 82: Rain

There are still only a few of us in town. Most people went to the Amalfi Coast, Nikki and Jess went to Milan until tomorrow, Mandy went to the Cinque Terre, Lindsey Z went to Zurich, and Liz went to Paris. Today there were only six of us in town: Jen, Corinne, Chelsea, Heather, Lindsey M. and Me.
I didn't do much during the day. It was very rainy and gross outside. I went to the grocery store to get food for the next few days, worked on a paper, did a mini indoor workout, and showered. Then I met up with Chelsea, Jen, and Corinne for dinner. We went to a place called il Teatro located not too far from my house. I had penne with mushrooms and salmon.
After we went walking and got gelato. I had caffe mousse.
Then I went home and watched part of a movie before falling asleep.

Day 81: Matzo Ball Soup

There are only a few of us in town for the Easter weekend. Most people went to the Amalfi Coast, Nikki and Jess went to Milan for part of the weekend, Mandy went to the Cinque Terre, Lindsey Z went to Zurich, Liz went to Paris, and Lindsay M. went on a day trip with her Aunt. On Friday in particular there were only five of us in town: Jen, Corinne, Chelsea, Heather and Me.
In the morning I met up with Jen and Chelsea at Santa Croce and we went to the Jewish district. Its Passover and Chelsea is Jewish and wanted Matzo ball soup, so we joined in for lunch.

Day 80: 80! When Did That Happen?

I had school as usual today. First was an outing for Art History at Palazzo Pitti. The outings are for everyone in the program, but as the semester goes on the number of attendees is dwindling. Then I split a pizza with Amanda and finished up my paper in the library. I ended my day with an Architecture lecture.
Amanda left for Amalfi Coast with some of the other girls around 7pm. I walked with her to the grocery store, got a few things then said bye and went back home for dinner.
Around 10pm I met Jess and Nikki and we went to our friend Sam's apartment to hang out. I introduced Sam to a game called "Logo quiz" which is super fun. Then we went to a bar next door called Naima and met Jesse and Corinne. I tried Long Island Iced Tea for the first time (not my favorite) and then went home fairly early and went to bed.

Day 79: Perks

I woke up late today, got ready quickly, chugged a glass of coffee, then set off for my 2 mile hike to the BI. I had Italian class where we learned about horoscopes (because that's very helpful vocab..) and new verb that is conjugated irregularly.
On my way to the Palazzo Capponi I got a pastry as I was hungry after my only coffee breakfast then had Dante class. Not even half way through the class my laptop died. I assumed the battery died, but when I later plugged it in I learned it had crashed. After several restarts and running a repair, I got windows up and running again. I had been working on my essay so I plugged in a flash drive and saved the document there.
I finished my paper, leaving some final polishing for tomorrow and met Amanda after her class. We went to our favorite legato place. I had a scoop of "after-eight" and a scoop of "mouse cioccolata." It was glorius!
We walked home and later in the evening watched the movie "Perks of Being a Wallflower" until dinner. Fun fact: my friend was an extra in one of the scenes!
For dinner I had the standard no sauce pizza- bread- thing, chicken breast, and pureed spinach (aka baby food). Rosanna offered a cake for dessert but I politely declined.

Day 78: Raphael

I'm back! I've fallen behind on my posts, but I'm starting up again. All my old posts will be updated when I have time.
Today I got to sleep in (this never happens!). At breakfast Rosanna gave us Easter presents! Amanda and I each got a heart shaped box with chocolates inside. After a quick breakfast I went to school for an internship meeting at 11am. Then I taught from 12 to 2pm.
I headed to the library after to do research for my final paper for Art History. I am writing about Raphael. Its not the most exciting topic but I am trudging on.

Day 76: Freezing in Venice

On this day in my Italian adventure I was wrapping up my time in Venice. It was FREEZING and rainy. Despite the bad weather we did some indoor activities such as going to the Guggenheim (below) and went to a cool candy and pastry shop.

Then we had to take a ferry back to the train station. I have never been so cold in my life.
Then we hopped on the train and headed back home to Florence.
Like my pants? Also standing on the train is generally frowned upon.

Day 75: Murano

On the second day in Venice we went for a walking tour. It wasn't super interesting, but definitely beautiful.

In the afternoon a group of us took a ferry to Murano Island where they makes glass.

Rhino!

For dinner Amanda and I had pizza. I had one with mushrooms.

Day 74: Venezia

I went to Venice with school. We took a train at 9:30 then arrived around 11am. There was a strike so we had to walk to our hotel rather than taking a water taxi. This took a while. When we arrived we were given our keys. Amanda and Laura went to the dentist, so only Nikki, Jess, and I were in the room and chose our beds. Jess went to eat with some others and Nikki and I went for a walk. The weather was glorious! We sat down in the sun by a canal.

We had a tour which was unfortunately inside. We were all so upset to be missing the beautiful afternoon outside.

After the tour we went on a gondola ride. It was wonderful! We went through the canals and out into the Mediterranean. We timed our ride perfectly as the sun was setting over the water and looked so beautiful.

Selfie.. Others took photos of me, but I have to get the pic from them

The other boat: Lindsey M., Jess, Meg, Lexi, Peg and Ciara

My boat: Nikki, Amanda, Cella, Mandy, Katie, and Me
For dinner we grabbed sandwiches from a small place by our hotel. I had a wrap with cheese, lettuce, mushrooms, and turkey.
