BONUS day 96 (part 2): Goodbye

After my sunrise adventure, I went back to bed. When I woke up again, I went around the city and said my final farewells. 

I said goodbye to the church down the road where the square would fill with people flooding out of the local bar and the steps double as park benches.

I said bye to the antique market where I bought a few old Italian pokemon cards.


I said bye to the grocery store where I shopped multiple times each week, buying chocolate bars, bread, and fruit.

I said bye to the dome of the cathedral peeking out above buildings.

I said bye to the constant construction and scaffolding.

I said goodbye to the section of the dome that was never completed.


I said bye to Giotto's tower.


I said bye to the Cathedrale di Firenze.

I said goodbye to this little french bulldog and her brother.


I said bye to the ancient baptistry.

I stood for a minute and stared at the complex. The beautiful church, baptistry, and tower surrounded by shops, restaurants and swarms of tourists. I hesitantly walked away, on to continue my farewells.


I said bye to the bookstore where I bought a copy of "Il Grande Gatsby."

I said goodbye to San Lorenzo Chiesa/ Capella de Medici.



I said goodbye to the San Lorenzo market's winding paths and tunnel vision inducing canopy.

I said goodbye to classical influenced architecture and Corinthian capitals.

I said goodbye to the church where Jess, Nikki, and I almost crashed a wedding.

I said goodbye to the store I bought a blue, white, and reddish orange dress.

I said goodbye to Chiesa di Santa Maria Novella and Stazione Santa Maria Novella, where I boarded trains to Rome, Pisa, and Venice, and took buses to Pisa airport.

I said goodbye to Piazza della Reppublica and the Saturday outdoor market.


I said goodbye to the carousel that served as a meeting spot with my friends and also was lots of fun to ride.



I said goodbye to the British Institute where I took Italian classes.

I said goodbye to the former church turned library.

I said goodbye to this tower.

I said bye to the Ponte Santa Trinita, which I used to walk from the BI to school.


I said goodbye to the Arno river.


I said goodbye to La Carraia gelato.





I said goodbye to the cafe I often bought cornetti con cioccolati from.

I said goodbye to Palazzo Capponi which serves as James Madison University's campus in Florence.

I said goodbye to Chiesa Santo Spirito.

And I said bye to it square, Piazza Santo Spirito.

I said bye to Palazzo Pitti.

I said goodbye to my favorite spot in Florence, Giardino di Boboli.

I said bye to the Medici family crest.

I said goodbye to Ponte Vecchio.




I said bye to the boar and his adjoining market.


I said goodbye to Orsanmichele.

I said a distant goodbye to the two towers: the Bargello and a church.

I said bye to Cosimo de Medici I, the first duke of Florence.

I said goodbye to Palazzo Vecchio.

I said bye to the loggia filled with statues.

I said goodbye to the Uffizi Gallery.


I said goodbye to Santa Croce.

I said goodbye to the park I ran, sat, and played in.

I said bye to Florentine cuisine.
 

 Lastly, I said bye to Via Mattonaia 41, my home for the last 3 1/2 months.
